Laura Steenbergen completed her Master’s degree in Cognitive Neuroscience at Leiden University, and now works at the Cognitive Psychology Unit at Leiden University. She is particularly interested in neuromodulatory effects on cognition, and focuses on the acuteand longer-term effects of food supplements on cognitive functions. As a research assistant, she has worked on several research projects, among which imaging of dopamine resources in the brain and the effect of tryptophan intake on social cognition.  During her master, she completed a research internship at Maastricht University, where she worked on a project focusing on the effect of cocaine on creativity. Laura obtained her PhD in June 2016 with a thesis on 'Cognitive enhancement: Toward the integration of theory and practice'. She now works as a postdoctoral researcher at Leiden University.
