Dominique Lippelt has obtained both his undergraduate and graduate degree at the University of Leiden. He is currently a PhD student at the Cognitive Psychology Unit under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Bernhard Hommel.
By using Virtual Reality techniques that allow subjects to longer experience a distinction between themselves and a virtual avatar he wishes to further investigate the mechanisms underlying self-representation in humans. For instance, under what circumstances do people no longer distinguish between the self and other agents and to what degree can this impact a person’s behavior and cognition. He is also acting coordinator of the Minor Brain and Cognition and is involved in teaching several courses, such as Consciousness and Cognitive Neuroscience.
